Here at West Gallery it was an opportunity to get outside and tidy up. Sweeping up the remnants of last years leaves, scrubbing down the whitewash, cleaning windows and touching up paintwork. With less than two weeks to go before we are back open on 21st March there's still lots to do. With the doors and windows wide open we started to lay out the gallery, trying to work out where all the lovely new pictures are going to fit in. We should be hanging next weekend, just one or two more artists to deliver.
I have still got to paint some pictures myself, the only painting I have done so far is walls and woodwork. Still, nothing like a deadline to get the adrenaline flowing. After badgering all the artists to get work in on time it looks like me who will be the last! Somehow it all seems to come together though.
With spring here now, Devon and Cornwall is looking grand. The winter storms have washed up lots of flotsam and jestsam to keep the beachcombers busy and the artists inspired. Check out Mary Oldham's Boat Chains, just click on the link (sorry!).
So, no time for Pimms and lemonade on the patio just yet, but until we are back open you can enjoy browsing some of the artwork that will be on show in the gallery for 2014 here online. And yes, Devon and Cornwall will be #openforbusiness.
