You see, I didn't realise that they weren't deliberately setting out to irritate me, being Pisces they were oblivious to the torment they were causing. So why are my closest relationships people who seem to wind me up. I think it's the fascination with opposites, their differences and foibles are somewhat appealing. Almost a sort of envy. They are all the things you want to be. I remember, Belinda used to hang the loo roll the wrong way round and it would drive me mad (If you're thinking is there a right and a wrong way to hang a loo roll? You're probably a Pisces!). I was almost convinced she was doing it deliberately to annoy me, but no, she just didn't care, as long as she had one! I sometimes wish I didn't really care about things, but I do. Belinda will admit that she's not creative but she is good at all the things I am not good at. Were complimentary, makes the perfect team.
October has been a good month in the gallery, for what can sometimes be a strange time of year, not summer and not yet Christmas and I have met lots of lovely people, all very different. It was the diversity of personalities that struck me and it was fun trying to predict the decision process that went with their personality.
On Saturday I conducted one of my Watercolour Workshops with some delightful ladies but what a mixture of personalities. It would be interesting to see how they interpreted my tuition in their own way, not to mention a good test for me. It is true, art is certainly an expression of your personality and as much as I was sometimes tempted to grab the brush and go, "No, not like that!" I had to appreciate they were learning and it was as much their personality that dictated the outcome. One lady was bold and confident and charged ahead, not frightened of the white paper and she totally got what it was all about. Another, less confident, struggled to let herself go and was fighting in her mind with all the baggage of previous art experiences. Despite the differences, by the end of the session they had managed to achieve a very respectable painting, even if their approach was vastly different.
When you begin to understand why different personalities react the way they do you are more able to appreciate why they do what they do and not take it personally. We should celebrate our differences and by working together it is amazing what we can achieve. So, instead of fighting against it, go with the flow, swim with the fishes. You may learn something.
If you are interested in one of my Watercolour Workshop we have spaces available up to Christmas, click here to find out available dates. And don't worry, anybody can do it and I'm really not as intimidating as I sound. Even Pisces may apply!
