Lee creates wonderful scenes in ceramics with driftwood and other things found on the beach that capture the atmosphere of the local fishing villages, ports and harbours.
Lee explains her inspiration, "My art and crafts have a strong nautical theme with fishing trawlers and sailing boats, beach huts, junior sailing pontoons, fish and lighthouses. These pieces can adorn any home adding a warm nautical element in either a wall hanging, individual driftwood pieces depicting fishing villages or ceramic fishing trawlers."
"With the many hidden coves and expansive coastal beaches on my doorstep, I just love to go beach combing and scouring the local beaches regularly to collect many pieces of flotsam and odd bits and pieces cast ashore by the south-westerlies that hit our shores. I also collect larger pieces of driftwood from around the River Dart to utilise when compiling my ceramic pieces. The wood gives inspiration to the ceramics that I make and use for each final piece. Unfortunately the very mention of gathering driftwood sends huge protesting groans from my two now teenage children, but they have helped me for many years!"
