Are we ready? No, of course not. But somehow by midnight on Thursday we will probably have just about made it, we always do. So, if you are in the area, come on down and see what all our effort has been for. We have lots of lovely new paintings, sculptures and jewellery all by local artists from Devon and Cornwall.
On Saturday, our regulars Dos and Dave Rodgers brought in some of their ceramics, always a favourite. Jules Warrender delivered beautiful new jewellery, and new artist Richard Thorn brought in some of his spectacular paintings including his original pastel below entitled Trip to Cornwall.
As you travel west into the Cornish sunset this image conjures up the excitement and anticipation of holidays in Cornwall. Counting down the miles of your long journey you know you are nearly there, there's just something different. This seemingly mundane scenario delights with the unique Cornish light, vibrant colours and dramatic skies as the wet road and the tail lights glisten in the twilight, you almost feel like you are there.
In all the frantic activity of recent months, gazing into beautiful paintings like this you can almost forget all the hard work and your day-to-day troubles for just a few moments. Isn't that what art is all about?
