Ah, think again! Maybe it was the spring sunshine but it seemed almost as busy as an August Bank Holiday weekend and people flooded into the gallery asking, "How much is this?" and "How much is that?" Aargh, panic! I am a creative, I am not the best at remembering figures, help! Belinda was bashing away on the computer compiling a list of all the artists and all the prices, so all we needed to do now was match the prices with the item.
Simple really, but when you're tired and caught slightly off-guard the brain doesn't always work at it's best. Anyway, we somehow managed to stumble through it. Perhaps we didn't look as disorganised as we felt and we still managed to sell our first piece of artwork within an hour of opening. How much for I am not sure!
Unsurprisingly, it was one of Caroline Preston's amazing origami pieces which I featured in my blog two weeks ago. Now, I would show you a picture of it but I haven't had time to photograph it, or any other artwork for that matter! So, below is a photo of the space on the wall where it used to be, surrounded by other beautiful pieces. And the way things are going you'd better hurry up, things are moving fast!
I will get all our lovely new artwork up on our website as soon as I possibly can but for all you art lovers and artists alike please bear with me. Of course, you can always pop into the gallery and see them in the flesh, they should have prices on by then!
So, all that work hanging the artwork, laying out the gallery, fiddling and adjusting to make it perfect and somebody comes along in the first hour and ruins it by buying a work of art. I don't know, customers, eh?
