Margaret's glassware fuses the ancient techniques and inspiration of Japan with the distinctive aquamarine colours and shimmering fishes of north Cornwall. These stunning pieces, all painstakingly and meticulously crafted, just ooze class. Each piece is unique and signed by Margaret, no two are the same.
Margaret explores the use of colour, texture and form in translucent glass, developing an unusual technique involving straw silk fibre and precious metal foils to create bowls, glass panels and other decorative art forms for interiors.
Margaret obtained her degree in Fine Art and Sculpture at Goldsmith’s College, part of London University, and a post-graduate course at Exeter University followed. After a long period teaching in both schools and adult education, she decided to develop her own ideas. An accomplished watercolour artist, Margaret has found her creative abilities have evolved into producing her now familiar glassware sought all over the world.
We have been lucky enough to represent Margaret for some time now and as well as pieces bought in the gallery we have despatched many online orders to places like Winchester, Harrogate, Oxford, Ryde and Holland Park, London.
Memories of Cornwall and the mighty Atlantic Ocean encapsulated in glass by one of the country's premier artists, the perfect centre piece in any home or the ideal wedding gift that would be treasured forever. Take a piece of Cornwall home... and enjoy.
Some of Margaret's new pieces available at West Gallery this year. More available at West Gallery.
