At the risk of giving a secret away, it has been like this for almost four weeks now. Hazy, lazy summer days with beautiful sunshine and barely a rain cloud in sight and temperatures around 18 to 22 degrees. So why do people holiday abroad? No desperate waiting for passports, no mind-numbing queuing at airports, no stuffy, cramped flights, no language problems (well, that's if you can understand the local dialect here!), no heaving, fly infested beaches... I could go on.
Here, you can enjoy beautiful rolling green countryside, the vast moors, the rugged coastline and the wide sandy beaches. Enchanting thatched pubs, world class restaurants and a culture all it's own with many attractions from gardens to galleries.
It is not surprising that it is a haven for many artists, with extraordinary scenery, stunning seas and a mystical light that enthralls those trying to capture it on canvas. There is an abundance of creative people producing original works and at great value. Things you won't find anywhere else. Here at West Gallery our artists are all from Devon and Cornwall, they're the best, why go anywhere else?
Here you can enjoy the weather, the culture, the scenery and the lifestyle. The peace and quiet and the slow pace of life is the perfect antidote to the urban rat-race. I understand that there are even a few vacancies in some of the local holiday accommodation, so now is the time to grab a bargain.
So, if you're looking for the perfect getaway, you won't do much better than North Devon and Cornwall. Just don't tell everybody, it's our little secret!
