I have a busy couple of weeks coming up. The forthcoming Bank Holiday weekend is Bradworthy Arts Festival and I have lots to do to get ready including setting up our 'super whizzy' spin painting machine for a great family fun day out, I also have a couple of commissions to paint, there's still loads of lovely artwork to upload to the website (apologies to those artists who haven't got all there work up yet, soon... I promise), then there's preparation for our new watercolour workshops (more about that soon) and, of course, I will be my normal, smiling, cheerful self every day in the gallery, welcoming and informing all the punters.
But that's not what is bothering me. My dear wife has put me forward for selection for the Westward Ho! and Bideford Art Society. That's nice, I hear you say. Yes, I now have less than two weeks to paint six (yes, SIX!) masterpieces worthy of this august establishment and judged by a group of my peers, whilst juggling the day-to-day activities of running an art gallery. I therefore refer you to an amusing graphic of The Creative Process (below) that I saw on Twitter, which I think succinctly sums up where I am at the moment.
Just to add a little spice to the selection process, some of the members of the judging panel are artists represented here at West Gallery. Respected artists such as Sarah Woolfenden, Tony Williams and Colin Allbrook. So, what do they do? A nod and a wink and I'm in? Do they abstain or judge my work impartially? What if they reject me? Do I throw my toys out of the pram and their work out on the street? I am sure they will do the right thing and I will respect that decision.
Still, no good speculating about it, I had better get my brushes out and, in the meantime, I refer you to the red section of the graphic below!

P.S. My dear wife read this blog and laughed out loud (I think that's LOL?!) but guess what bit she found funny? It was the bit that said "I will be my normal, smiling, cheerful self every day in the gallery...". Humph!
