This week we are highlighting the wonderful creative talent of local artist and gilder Danni Bradford. Danni uses traditional gilding techniques but many are born from continuous experimentation and ideas in the studio. She creates glass panels in 24 Kt gold verre-eglomise (no, I don't know what it means either!) resulting in luxurious wall pieces that add a touch of class and many delicate pieces such as her gilded skeletal leaves.
Man has been gilding objects for over 4000 years. The Egyptians and ancient Greeks used gold leaf to adorn precious objects as a symbol of immortality, and the Romans used extensive ornamental gilding within their palaces and temples. Danni brings gilding into the 21st century with her imaginative and sumptuous designs.
Beautiful work with a golden touch. And who doesn't like gold?
