What better way to introduce you to the second in our series of featured artists. New to West Gallery this year is Theresa Shaw who lives and works in South Devon. I have known Theresa for some time now and her work is gaining in reputation across the South West, we are pleased to have her on board and the fresh and exciting injection of colour her paintings bring. Theresa's bright and colourful contemporary depictions of flowers are very striking and would be a great addition to any home.
Theresa has been painting and drawing her whole life: doodling, colouring-in, throwing paint - these are her earliest artistic memories and are the basis for who she is today. Theresa's work continues to evolve in different directions whilst always remaining inspired by the natural world and attempting to express that in a unique and personal way. At present she is absorbed in the use of acrylic inks for their brilliant colour and incredible fluidity helping to create truly individual pieces of artwork that reflect how she feels about beauty and life.
The series of pictures below, the Four Seasons, entitled Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn respectively, are some of Theresa's original pieces currently on display at West Gallery all framed in modern, chunky, high-gloss black frames which enhance Theresa's beautiful artwork. We also have many prints available, all in her unique, contemporary style. Definitely worth a look.
In the course of my day job I get to see plenty of self-indulgent, depressing artwork from some artists, so it is quite refreshing to see some work that is both uplifting and colourful. Doesn't it just want to make you get outside in the garden?
Ooh, I've come over all warm and summery!
